Lucile Adams-Campbell, Ph.D., is a cancer epidemiologist and health disparities researcher. She is a Professor of Oncology, Associate Director for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research, and Senior Associate Dean for Community Outreach and Engagement at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and Georgetown University Medical Center. She received a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Biomedical Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Adams-Campbell has received numerous awards and honors for her decades of research and contributions to the area of health disparities, including the election to the National Academy of Medicine, the induction into the DC Hall of Fame, and received gold medallions from her alma maters – Drexel University and the University of Pittsburgh. In 2021, Dr. Adams-Campbell was the recipient of the Joseph F. Fraumeni, Jr. Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Society of Preventive Oncology (ASPO); and named a Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research Academy (AACR). She has just completed a four- year term on the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Human Genome Research Institute. Dr. Adams-Campbell recently was appointed Chair of the Health Disparities Committee for the Alliance Clinical Trials for Oncology Research Base.
Dr. Adams-Campbell addresses health disparities with particular emphasis on cancers that disproportionately impact African-Americans and focuses on focus on clinical trials, lifestyle interventions including physical activity, energy balance, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and oral health among minority and underserved populations. Dr. Adams-Campbell has been involved in large epidemiological cohort studies including the Women’s Health Initiative and the Black Women’s Health Study for over two decades. She currently serves as the PI of National Capital Area Minority/Underserved NCI Community Oncology Research Program and the Howard-Georgetown Collaborative Partnership in Cancer Research. Dr. Adams-Campbell also oversees the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention, a community-based screening and navigation program. She has more than 240 peer reviewed publications.
