Sam Halabi and George O’Hara will examine the regulatory preparedness factors that facilitated or impeded public health responses during the 2024 Marburg outbreak in Rwanda and the 2026 Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The presentation will focus on the relationships among regulators, manufacturers, and international organizations, using these outbreaks as case studies to demonstrate how regulatory preparedness can reduce the time between an epidemic’s emergence and the effective deployment of medical interventions.

Ellen Moscoe will present findings from a cluster-randomized controlled trial that assessed the feasibility, acceptability, and scalability of Self-Help Plus (SH+) among beneficiaries of the national social protection program in Senegal. Moscoe will also present exploratory findings on how SH+ affected psychological well-being and social and economic outcomes among lower-income populations in Senegal.

Matthew Facciani will present current evidence on trust in health information, drawing on findings from a new Edelman Trust Institute and Yale School of Public Health analysis of nearly 13,000 people across 13 countries. Facciani will discuss how trust in doctors and health authorities has not collapsed, but their voices are increasingly diluted among a growing number of competing sources, from peer communities to AI.
