Applications Open for Three Global Health Opportunities for Georgetown Students

Global Health Student Fellows Program

The Global Health Student Fellows Program is a paid, year-long opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to collaborate with Georgetown faculty on interdisciplinary global health research projects.

Since its launch in 2017, the program has welcomed more than 200 students from over 30 nationalities. Fellows spend five to 10 hours each week working with faculty mentors on a global health issue while gaining hands-on research experience. The program also gives students opportunities to participate in global health events and connect with scholars in the field.

Maeve Kennedy McKean Global Health Award

The Maeve Kennedy McKean Global Health Award is part of the Global Health Student Fellows Program and supports one junior in developing an independent, faculty-mentored research project focused on a pressing issue at the intersection of global health and human rights.

The award honors Maeve Kennedy McKean (G/L’09), former executive director of the Georgetown University Global Health Initiative.

DC Public Health Case Challenge

The DC Public Health Case Challenge gives Georgetown students an opportunity to apply their knowledge to a real-world public health problem through interdisciplinary, problem-based learning. This year’s challenge focuses on chronic diseases in Washington, DC. Winning teams receive a monetary prize based on the award category they win.

Since the inaugural case challenge, Georgetown University teams have won all four awards: the Grand Prize, Harrison C. Spencer Memorial Interprofessional Prize, Practicality Prize and Wildcard Prize.
