A Conversation with Dr. Eric Goosby

Dr. Eric Goosby, an internationally recognized infectious disease expert who served in the Clinton and Obama administrations leading domestic and global programs combating HIV/AIDS, discussed his 35 years of experience working in the HIV/AIDS sector and his current work as a member of President Joe Biden’s Coronavirus Task Force. His wealth of knowledge of HIV/AIDS and infectious disease informed the discussion on the coronavirus pandemic and its parallels with the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Eric Goosby, M.D., is a distinguished professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He previously served as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Tuberculosis until 2019 and the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator under President Obama. He is also a member of President Biden’s Coronavirus Task Force and an affiliate of Georgetown’s Center for Innovation in Global Health.

John Monahan is the senior advisor for global health to President John J. DeGioia; senior fellow, McCourt School of Public Policy; and senior scholar, O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.
