Georgetown Global Health Community Gathers for Annual Open House
The Georgetown University Global Health Institute hosted its annual Global Health Open House on September 9, with 25 groups from across the university represented at the annual gathering of Georgetown’s global health community.
Launched in 2017, the open house offers a window into the range of global health work taking place at Georgetown and creates space for members of the university community to connect with colleagues working in different areas of the field. Throughout the afternoon, attendees moved between tables to learn about programs, fellowships, research, and other opportunities, from Georgetown’s new master’s program in climate, environment & health to fellowship opportunities at the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues and workshops offered by the Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics.
“Global health can be a difficult concept to define, even for people working in the field,” said Conor Luck (M’30), a first-year medical student in the School of Medicine. “But walking into the open house, I could see how this patchwork of diverse fields fits together. It felt like Christmas morning. I had to stop myself from signing up for everything!”
The open house also marked Georgetown University President Eduardo Peñalver’s first opportunity to meet members of Georgetown’s global health community since beginning his tenure in July 2026. He was joined by Norman J. Beauchamp, M.D., executive vice president for health sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, as well as Deans Roberta Waite, Ed.D., and Christopher King, Ph.D.

Hosted at the start of the academic year, the Global Health Open House brings together faculty, staff, and students to learn about the global health work taking place across Georgetown University.
