Lucile L. Adams-Campbell, Ph.D., is a Distinguished University Professor at Georgetown University Medical Center and the Associate Director of Health Disparities Research at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also serves as the Senior Associate Dean for Community Outreach and Engagement and is the Founding Director of the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention.
As a renowned cancer epidemiologist and health disparities scientist, Dr. Adams-Campbell has dedicated her career to addressing cancer inequalities, with a particular emphasis on minority and underserved populations, especially African Americans. Her extensive research portfolio focuses on clinical trials, lifestyle interventions, energy balance, and metabolic health. Dr. Adams-Campbell is a central figure in large-scale epidemiological research, having served for over two decades on landmark studies such as the Women’s Health Initiative and the Black Women’s Health Study. Currently, she is the Principal Investigator for both the National Capital Area Minority/Underserved NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) and the Howard-Georgetown Collaborative Partnership in Cancer Research.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Adams-Campbell has authored more than 260 peer-reviewed publications. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous honors, including election to the National Academy of Medicine, induction into the D.C. Hall of Fame, and the receipt of the Joseph F. Fraumeni, Jr. Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Society of Preventive Oncology. Dr. Adams-Campbell was recently awarded with the AACI Cancer Health Equity Award from Association of American Cancer Institutes in 2026. She is also an elected Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Academy and has received gold medallions from her alma maters, Drexel University and the University of Pittsburgh, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to public health.
