Global Health Student Fellows

The Global Health Student Fellows (GHSF) program, coordinated by the Georgetown University Global Health Institute, is a year-long opportunity for 25 talented undergraduate and graduate students to collaborate with senior faculty on research projects, participate in global health-related events, and network with peers and scholars in the global health field.

Since its launch in 2017, the program has welcomed nearly 200 students from over 30 nationalities. Representing all schools at Georgetown, these fellows reflect GHSF’s broad interdisciplinary scope and global reach.

The program builds a shared global health community among faculty students, highlights the breadth of global health activity across the university, and connects students from a wide range of disciplines who share a common interest in global health.

Overview of the Program

Research Project

Student fellows collaborate with their faculty mentor to develop a cutting-edge global health project related to research, policy, or direct impact. Throughout the year, fellows receive ongoing mentorship and have opportunities to develop their skills and connect with other research groups.

Speaker Series and Discussions

Each month, fellows engage with senior global health faculty and other leaders to explore the global health field and reflect on the shared values underpinning their work. They also have exclusive access to activities that enhance their academic and professional development. Past opportunities have included Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, meetings with leading global health experts, and participation in policy discussions with university faculty. Additional opportunities may arise.

Research Showcase

At the end of the academic year, student fellows present their research to peers and faculty to showcase the outcomes of their work and the insights gained throughout the year. Top presentations receive commendations and awards.
