A Conversation with Kristi Martin

Kristi Martin is a health policy leader whose career spans government service and strategic consulting, with a focus on equity-driven reform. In this conversation, Martin will discuss her role in shaping Medicare policy in the United States, implementing landmark legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, and driving people-centered solutions to improve health systems.

Kristi Martin, M.A., MPA, is a seasoned health policy expert with over 20 years of experience in the public sector, private sector, and philanthropy. She is currently a director at the Camber Collective, a strategy consulting firm known for its analytic rigor and human-centered approach. Martin began her career at the National Institutes of Health in 2004, which led to roles in patient advocacy and health policy. As chief of staff to the deputy administrator at the Center for Medicare within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), she advanced regulatory policy in Medicare, addressing high prescription drug costs and expanding access to services. Before CMS, Martin was vice president for health care at Arnold Ventures, where she led the prescription drug pricing portfolio. Her extensive government experience includes roles at the Government Accountability Office, Office of Personnel Management, and the Department of Health and Human Services, equipping her to support policymakers in addressing health system challenges through pragmatic policy change. Martin holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in health communication from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University.

Monahan, J.D., is a senior advisor to the Georgetown University Global Health Institute, a professor in the Department of Medicine, a senior fellow at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, and a senior scholar at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law.
