Michelle Roett is a physician whose career bridges clinical care and health equity research. In this conversation, Dr. Roett will share insights from her work advancing maternal and child health, leading community-based initiatives in Washington, DC, and securing major funding to support equity-focused health care solutions.

Michelle Roett, M.D. (M’03), is a professor, chair, and clinical chief of the Department of Family Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. She is the principal investigator for more than $11 million dollars in federal and private funding on health equity research and education, including a recent award for DC Safe Babies, Safe Moms to improve maternal and child health in Washington, DC. Dr. Roett received her medical degree from Georgetown University, completed her residency training with MedStar Georgetown, and earned her Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
John T. Monahan, J.D., is a senior advisor to the Georgetown University Global Health Institute, a professor in the Department of Medicine, a senior fellow at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, and a senior scholar at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law.
