A Conversation with Norman J. Beauchamp

Norman J. Beauchamp is a physician and academic leader whose work has advanced the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and strengthened academic health systems. In this conversation, Dr. Beauchamp will share insights from his work over the years in the delivery of medicine and as a senior leader at Georgetown University Medical Center and Michigan State University.

Norman J. Beauchamp, M.D., MHS, serves as executive vice president for health sciences at Georgetown University Medical Center and executive dean of the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He previously served as executive vice president for health sciences at Michigan State University. Dr. Beauchamp earned his medical degree at Michigan State University and began his career at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he completed his radiology residency, neuroradiology fellowship, and neurointerventional training before joining the faculty. He later spent 14 years at the University of Washington as professor and chair of the Department of Radiology and served as founding medical director of the Seattle-King County Free Clinic.

John T. Monahan, J.D., is a senior advisor to the Georgetown University Global Health Institute, a professor in the Department of Medicine, a senior fellow at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, and a senior scholar at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law.
