The Faith and Global Health Initiative Convenes Advisory Group to Guide Its Next Phase

The Faith and Global Health Initiative, housed within Georgetown University Global Health Institute, has convened a new advisory group of university leaders to provide strategic guidance on the initiative’s priorities and to identify opportunities for collaboration across the university’s institutes and centers.

Established to strengthen relationships among faith and global health communities, the Initiative on Faith and Global Health seeks to understand how beliefs interact with health in society. It works alongside faith and health actors to advance investment, build trust, and improve the delivery of health services locally and globally.

Its flagship work, the Georgetown-Lancet Commission on Faith, Trust, and Health, is the first of its kind to center the role of faith in strengthening trust in health systems.

“Georgetown’s Catholic and Jesuit identity, emphasis on interfaith dialogue, and expertise across disciplines–demonstrated in this advisory group–uniquely positions it to lead this effort,” said Diana Rayes, Ph.D., program director of the Initiative on Faith and Global Health.

The advisory group includes representatives from the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs; the Center for Jewish Civilization; the Center on Faith and Justice; the Collaborative on Global Children’s Issues; the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life; the Office of Mission and Ministry; the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law; and the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding.
