Emily Sweeney

Emily Sweeney (C’24) is an undergraduate student at Georgetown University’s College of Art and Sciences majoring in biology of global health and minoring in Spanish. In summer 2023, she participated in an immersive study abroad program in Buenos Aires, Argentina that integrated classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences, focusing on the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) affecting pediatric patients. Emily is interested in translational research and understanding the roles of the social determinants of health and country-specific circumstances to improve patient outcomes. As a fall 2023 GHI student fellow, she worked with Mariastella Serrano on projects for pediatric patients and their families in Latin America.
