Haley Wexelblatt (C’24) is an undergraduate student in the College majoring in biology of global health and minoring in theology and religious studies. She is interested in pursuing community medicine and studying pediatric equity. She previously interned at a nonprofit pediatric practice where she developed a workflow to establish baseline data on social determinants of health for patients to identify priority areas for social determinants of health investment. As a fall 2022 GHI student fellow, Haley worked in Professor Steven Singer’s lab studying giardiasis, a disease leading to stunted growth in children; she will study how the parasite Giardia duodenalis increases intestinal epithelial permeability.
