Hana Burkly (NHS'19, G'20) was pursuing a joint B.S./M.S. degree in global health at Georgetown. She was also a research assistant at RTI International, where she compiled a global gap analysis of countries affected by soil-transmitted helminths. She was a student fellow in the Georgetown Global Health Initiative Student Fellows program in fall 2018 and worked with health economist Vincent Turbat to ascertain how sub-Saharan African countries can capture a demographic dividend by decreasing their economic dependency ratios and increasing female employment rates.
