Leila Pagel (C’26) is an undergraduate student at Georgetown University’s College of Arts & Sciences majoring in biology and in justice and peace studies and minoring in Spanish. Her research interests include gut immunology, the microbiome, autoimmune diseases, and how these topics intersect with health equity issues. As a spring 2024 GHI student fellow, Leila worked with Steven Singer to study epithelial barrier repair in the small intestine following infection with the protozoan parasite Giardia duodenalis.
