Georgetown University Medical Center

Lylian Ayangma (M’26) is a first-year medical student at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Her interest in medicine started with a passion for the brain. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology and an emphasis in neurobiology. Originally from Cameroon, she came to the United States with a desire to make a difference back home. However, she quickly realized through her volunteer work in the United States and mission trips in Latin America that she wanted to have a more global impact. Her experiences working with underserved communities have made her passionate about health equity, and, as a future physician, she hopes to work towards combating health disparities in a way that transcends national boundaries. As a fall 2022 GHI student fellow, Lylian worked with Dr. Indira Narayanan on a project related to providing support for newborn care in Jordan.
