Syona Hariharan

Syona Hariharan (SFS’22) is a pre-med undergraduate majoring in science, technology, and international affairs. She is interested in aligning clinical medicine with health care policy, hoping to serve as a well-informed health care provider in the future. Syona has been working with Professor Emily Mendenhall to investigate the sociopolitical factors that have impacted public reception of COVID-19 guidelines in rural America. She continued this work as a fall 2021 GHI student fellow, focusing on the role that shame played in pandemic containment. Clinically, Syona enjoys serving as an EMT and conducting oncology research at the Georgetown University School of Medicine with Dr. Eric Glasgow.
