Johanna Cajina
Global Health Institute
Johanna Cajina, M.A., is the communications and events manager for the Georgetown University Global Health Institute. She holds a Master of International Affairs from The George Washington University, where she specialized in Latin American governance, security, and culture. Before joining the Global Health Institute, Cajina served as the communications manager for the Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute at George Washington University. Earlier in her career, she was the associate director of an international nonprofit based in Syracuse, New York, and Alajuela, Costa Rica, where she spent nearly six years working with local nonprofits to host long-term volunteers and was a long-term volunteer herself. Her passion for the Latin American region stems from her upbringing in Managua, Nicaragua. This passion has taken her to multiple countries in the region, including Havana, Cuba, for study abroad, and Bogotá, Colombia, where she produced a report for the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons on the mental health implications for Venezuelan women trafficked across borders.
